Algebra 1 Grade 9

Credit 1 (Must be paired with both per year)

In  this  course,  students build  on their basic understanding  of math to explore symbolic relationships  in a variety of ways. Students use integers and fractions to represent relationships in graphs and functions. Algebra 1 uses problem situations, physical models, and appropriate technology to extend algebraic thinking and engage student reasoning. The concepts emphasized in the course include functions; solving equations, slope as rates of change, proportionality, quadratic equations, exponential growth and decay, rational expressions, and probability in data exploration. Algebra IA earns one elective credit and is not applied as one of the four math credits for graduation.  The Algebra I requirement is met upon successful completion of Algebra IB. Algebra IA and Algebra IB must be taken in the same school year.

Algebra 1B (Algebra IA or Algebra IB) Grade 9

Credit 1 (Must be paired with both per year)

In this course, students build on their basic understanding of math to explore symbolic relationships in a variety of ways. Students use integers and fractions to represent relationships in graphs and functions. Algebra I uses problem situations, physical models, and appropriate technology to extend algebraic thinking and engage student reasoning. The concepts emphasized in the course include functions; solving equations, slope as rates of change, proportionality, quadratic equations, exponential growth and decay, rational expressions, and probability in data exploration.  The Algebra 1 requirement is met upon successful completion of Algebra 1B.  Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B must be taken in the same school year.

Advanced Algebra 1 (Standardized by test scores in 8th grade.)

Credit 1 Grade 9

Students Build upon their understanding of Mathmatical concepts, and learn to evaluate equations and sequences by standard form and substitution. And Advanced Algebra, takes on more complex language and reasoning with Algebraic knowledge.By using formulas, and solving functions and slope intercept. And Algebra takes on further concepts for future courses like Geometry, and, Algebra ll at the end of the Algebra l course.

Geometry  (Algebra 1 or Algebra 1B)

Credit 1 Grade 9-10

In this course you will learn to view and solve angles, distances, midpoints, congruence, triangles, right triangles, trigonometry, special shapes, adv shapes, area and surface, radius and volume. And Geometry builds on the basics of calculus concepts for future courses.

Advanced Geometry (Adv Algebra 1 or Algebra 1)

Credit 1 Grade 10-11

In Advanced geometry you will learn to solve angles, evaluate volume and surface advanced shapes, Linear pair, proofs of triangles and reflections.Distance and Midpoint, Using reasoning and hexagons and quadrilaterals, and using advanced surface and volume and Probability.

Algebra 2 (Geometry or Advanced Geometry)

Credit 1 Grade 10-11

In this course it builds on the concepts you have learned in Algebra 1 freshmen or sophomore year.In this course you will learn Adv Polynomials, linear equations and quantities,Inequalities, functions, slope intercept, logarithms, and intro to trinomials and monomials. And adv quadratics and data analysis, and, collecting data,Trigonometry, and, introduction to statistics.

Pre Calculus (Algebra 2)

Credit 1 Grade 11-12

In this course this will help students prepare them for AP:Calculus in the future. And in this course it builds on to adv shapes,Evaluation of integrals, and intro to limits, surface and volume, polynomials, area and sine, cos,or tan equations, functions, and, slope. And triangles and other shapes like cones, cylinders, rectangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, and, hexagons. And Analytic Trigonometry,Parametric lines,Polar Coordinates ,Change of Rotation,Logarithmic Reasoning, verticals, matrices, and,Probability.

AP:Calculus (Pre calculus AB or BA)

Credit 1.5 Grade 12

In this course students will learn the highest of mathematics mankind can go to.Calculus introduces new topics like integrals, cos, sin, and tan expressions, symbols, infinite, area and dx,adv functions, and linear regression, and, adv statistics.

Trigonometry (Algebra 2 ) Also this course can be paired with precalculus too.

Credit 1 Grade 11-12

This course teaches students about adv angles, surface and area, linear expressions, adv shapes, and right triangles and polygons, and intro to sin, cos, and tan angles and equations.

Statistics and Probability (Pre Calculus or Trigonometry)

Credit 1.5 Grade 12

In this course students learn data and adv 3d shapes, and surface and area, volume and mass, and radius and circumference of shapes. And also learn the ways to solve functions and slope in advanced ways.

Bridge Math (AP:Calculus or Pre calculus)

Credit 2.0

This course does not explain what's in it but rather it is a college level course in mathematics. And can receive more college credit than calculus or Pre calculus in High school.

Most courses like Pre calculus and Trigonometry are mostly paired together instead of being separate courses in High Classes.

Algebra 1, Geometry, and,Algebra 2 will have ROC Test which are for the students total grade in the course they enroll in for both English and Mathematics.

Math Department

All students are to enroll in four units of mathematics, which are Algebra l or Algebra lB,Geometry,And Algebra ll,and a course beyond Algebra ll.Here our our instructors at Rogersville High School 2024-2025 school year welcome.

Algebra lB is considered one of the four required courses to graduate high school.while Algebra lA

is more likely counted as a elective course and not really one of the four required courses to graduate.
